The production of ylang ylang oil dates back to the 1800s in the Philippines. Pronounced “Ee-lang Ee-lang,” the oil receives its name from the repetition of the Tagalog word “ilang,” meaning “wilderness,” it is also known as the ‘perfume tree’. The wilderness to which it is native or in which it is cultivated includes the tropical rainforests of the Philippines, Indonesia, Java, Sumatra, Comoro, and Polynesia.

Possessing a variety of benefits for body and mind, Ylang Ylang Oil is known to soothe feelings of stress, anxiety, sadness, tension, and sleeplessness. Additionally, it balances and regulates oil production in the skin and hair to prevent excessive dryness and oiliness. It can soothe inflammation and irritation on the body and the scalp while strengthening skin and hair. It addresses acne as well as hair loss by enhancing circulation, encouraging the growth of new skin, contributing and maintaining hydration, and preventing infections with its antimicrobial properties.
